Gaudium Musicae: Opera Carolina and VOX

Community Event, For the Family, Religious

St. Annís Gaudium Musicae concert series ďSacred SoundsĒ will conclude the season by hosting Opera Carolina and VOX for a performance on Sunday, March 18th at 4 p.m. The concert will take place at St. Annís Catholic Church, 3635 Park Road. A small reception will follow the hour-long presentation to give fellow listeners an opportunity to meet the performers. The concert series offered by St. Annís supports exceptional, primarily local and regional musicians by providing an acoustically excellent, intimate venue for performance and to present diverse programming. The Gaudium Musicae concert titled Musica Sacra Italiana will be intensely dramatic, sacred music by Italian composers from Verdi to Vivaldi, as performed by members of the Opera Carolina Chorus and semi-professional choir, VOX (who presented the Bach St. John Passion last season). Conductor David Tang leads the combined choirs in Verdiís masterful Quattro pezzi sacra (Four Sacred Pieces) and some of our regionís finest soloists perform excerpts from works like Vivaldiís Gloria and Rossini's Stabat Mater. The Opera Season is made possible with the support of Wells Fargo the Private Bank, Novant Health and Showmars Restaurants. Single concert tickets are priced at $30 for families, $12 for adults, and $8 for students. Children 12 and under are admitted free with a paying adult. Tickets can be purchased online at www.StAnnCharlotte.org, after Mass in the St. Annís parish office or at the door.
