Join the Cornelius PARC Department for an exciting evening with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra as we "Celebrate America" under the stars. Music lovers of all ages are invited to come early and bring their picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy a free, outdoor summer pops concert on Saturday, June 23, at Bailey Road Park (11536 Bailey Road) in Cornelius. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. with children's activities, food trucks, and concessions. Beer and wine will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists. A prelude act by Rockie Lynne will kick off the evening of music at 6:45 p.m., with the Charlotte Symphony following at 8:15 p.m. A fireworks show will immediately follow the Charlotte Symphony's performance. Mike McKay of WDAV 89.9 will emcee the evening. Limited parking is available in the park, as well as at Bailey Middle and Hough High Schools, with free shuttle service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Coolers are welcome, but glass containers or bottles, smoking, e-cigs, pets, tents, or open flames are not allowed.
