Weezer

Rock,Pop,Punk

Formed in 1993 by Rivers Cuomo, the enduring pop-punk band makes music with obvious influences, – the Beach Boys' four-part harmony most prominently. But echoes of the J. Geils Band, Todd Rundgren and Weezer's own early music, along with verbal references to the Beatles, are also easy to spot. Their 2005 album, "Make Believe" and "Weezer (White Album)" from 2016 have been the band's top-sellers. Their top-selling singles, according to Billboard, also appeared in the 2000s, including "Perfect Situation," "Pork and Beans," "Beverly Hills," "Feels Like Summer" and "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To." Still frontman, Cuomo is now a father well into his 40s but, aside from occasional sardonic references in his songs, he has not jumped on the hip-hop carousel. He's no dinosaur, though, nurturing a large presence on social media.

Zac Brown Band

Rock,Acoustic,Country

The story of Atlanta native Zac Brown and his band is a classic pay-your-dues story -- from sleeping in his tour van because he was broke to country/rock stardom, with three Grammy Awards and several other honors to their name. The guitarist gigged as a solo artist for several years with jaw-dropping flatpicking skills and an extensive catalog of originals, as well as an encyclopedic knowledge of popular songs. He formed the Zac Brown Band as a trio in 2002; after two indie-label albums, they saw the release of their first major-label album, "The Foundation," in 2008 (on Atlantic). That album earned them their first No. 1 single ("Chicken Fried") and first Grammy (Best New Artists). They've since grown into an eight-piece band, have released seven studio albums in all (the latest being "Welcome Home" in 2017), and are a big draw on the country, rock and jam band tour and festival circuits. "Uncaged," their fifth album, was named by Billboard as its best country album of 2012 and won the 2013 Grammy in that category. They also won a Grammy for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals in 2011 for "She's Walking Away," with Alan Jackson, and have been nominated for six other Grammys.
