Judah & the Lion

This genre-bending, Nashville-based Americana band describes its music as folk-hop, but their sound is a bigger melting pot than all that. Years before coming together, the band members grew up in separate corners of the U.S., listening to every type of music that came their way: the twang of folk, the beat of hip-hop, the drive of rock'n'roll, the punch of pop. Later, after college brought all four musicians to Tennessee, it only made sense to combine those different backgrounds ó and different sounds ó together. They made national waves with their 2014 debut album, "Kids These Days," and on their second full-length album, 2016's "Folk Hop N Roll," the band shone a light on the place where their influences overlap. Itís a wide-ranging sound, with fuzz bass, hip-hop percussion, distorted banjo riffs, and super-sized melodies all stirred into the same mixing pot.
